How do I use filters to search for schools?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

If you’re looking for housing near specific schools or within a particular school district, our School Filter makes it easy to find the right match for your family.

Here’s how to use the school filter:

  1. Start your property search
Go to AffordableHousing.com and enter your location to begin browsing available listings.

  2. Look for the map and filter options
On the left side of the search results page, you’ll see a map and several filter buttons—including one labeled “Schools.”

  3. Click the “Schools” button
This opens up filtering options so you can choose the types of schools you’d like to see, including:

    • Public

    • Private

    • Charter
You can also filter by school level (elementary, middle, or high school) and choose to view schools with GreatSchools.org ratings.

  4. Explore the map
Once your filters are selected, the map will update to show school icons in your search area. You can click on each icon to view school details and location.

  5. See the school zones
When you click on a school, the map will highlight the school’s attendance boundary (zone) in green. This helps you see which housing options are located within that school’s jurisdiction.

Why use the school filter?
This feature is especially helpful for families with school-aged children who want to live in a certain school district or find housing close to top-rated schools. It helps you make an informed housing decision—quickly and easily.
